iSensys was originally part of Pulsar Process Measurement Ltd. and covered the technology that detected Sand-in-Oil. The brand is used widely throughout the global petrochemical industry to measure and monitor sand production in oil and gas pipelines.
The eroding effects of sand is a serious concern for the petrochemical and oil industry, in a market where the price and demand for product is so volatile, protecting existing equipment is essential to the running of rigs and production lines. Sand can clog equipment, erode down completion components, and interfere with infrastructure; this means that companies across the globe need to keep on top of regular equipment maintenance and servicing to ensure long term profitability.
Erosion is largely depending on velocity and the size and sharpness of the sand particles, iSensys manufacture and supply a range of portable and fixed sand monitors and sensors that benefit from non-contacting ultrasonic technology that straps to the outside of the pipe to avoid breaking into and/or disrupting the process. The sensors detect changes in the acoustic signature of flow within the pipe and coverts the reading through it’s connecting monitor into a sand/solids impact rate.
As well as Sand-in-Oil detection, iSensys also produces sensors used for ‘Pig Detection’ providing reliable, non-invasive acoustic monitoring.
A pig primarily is a tool that is sent down a pipeline and is propelled by the pressure of the product flow in the pipeline and is used for a variety of maintenance operations. The pig detection system by Isensys provides reliable monitoring that ensures the pig has been launched and is traveling through the pipework safely and effectively.
